The Seasons

Leaves pirouette down
petal polka-dotted creek;
seasons final float.

Frozen appendage,
graceful sunlit icy curve
of willow dancer.

Amphibian throngs
ribbiting revival song
echoes through the night.

Sweltering mid day,
all life has grown lethargic.
Bead of sweat slithers.

Addiction

Cruel, calculating,
no compassion within you.
Drugs destroy a soul.

Eyes dull with darkness,
compassion lost in the haze
as smoke curls from pipe.

Parents cry in pain
at their child’s disappearance.
Son in room, alone.
