Rose Lefebvre The Seasons Leaves pirouette down petal polka-dotted creek; seasons final float. Frozen appendage, graceful sunlit icy curve of willow dancer. Amphibian throngs ribbiting revival song echoes through the night. Sweltering mid day, all life has grown lethargic. Bead of sweat slithers. # # # Addiction Cruel, calculating, no compassion within you. Drugs destroy a soul. Eyes dull with darkness, compassion lost in the haze as smoke curls from pipe. Parents cry in pain at their child’s disappearance. Son in room, alone. Rose Lefebvre has been writing poetry for over 37 years, only sharing it in the past 3 years. She won the top poetry prize, Best of Show, at the Oregon State Fair in 2003 and 2nd place in 2004. She has also written articles for a small city newspaper. She is a member of Chrysalis: Women writers and also Writers Club, both at Clackamas Community College. To read Rose's classroom poetry, please click the links below. |
