Longing Margaret Doran I used to send you love songs in the mail I hold my breath remembering what we shared when romance really was a fairy-tale when we were young and oh, so unprepared And so we practiced love with all its rules and learned to toss the rules to the breeze but now love comes so hard we must be fools to let this busyness usurp our needs It cannot be that passion has grown cold when thoughts of you still cause my heart to skip it cannot be that we are now too old to grasp desire’s grail and take a sip. A well-placed tongue or touch still knows the way past longing if we listen and obey. Margaret Doran lives in rural Oregon in the foothills of the Cascade Mountains. Though currently (officially) unemployed, she and her husband produce grass roots concerts and she builds affordable websites for small businesses.
